Leslie’s Care Packages is an award-winning, volunteer-led community group rooted in Stourbridge and reaching across the Black Country, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and beyond. Founded in loving memory of Leslie, we deliver thoughtfully curated care packages to individuals and families facing hardship—each one a gesture of dignity, warmth, and human connection. We’re powered entirely by donations and community spirit. We have no storage space, no formal funding—just heart, hope, and the generosity of those who believe in kindness. Every item, every pound, and every act of care matters deeply. It’s this grassroots energy that keeps us going and growing. Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our work. They give their time, compassion, and creativity to support those referred by trusted professionals—people navigating difficult moments who deserve to feel seen and supported. Our messaging is transparent and heartfelt. At Leslie’s Care Packages, we exist to prevent and relieve poverty for individuals and families who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or facing crisis due to disadvantage, social and digital exclusion, or other forms of vulnerability. We believe that no one should be left behind because of circumstances beyond their control. Whether someone is navigating trauma, isolation, financial hardship, or systemic barriers, we offer practical support with warmth, and respect. Through the provision of thoughtfully curated goods, emotional encouragement, and access to trusted assistance, we help people meet urgent needs while building pathways toward longer-term solutions. Our care packages are more than items—they are messages of solidarity, crafted with love and designed to restore a sense of worth, belonging, and possibility. We work in partnership with professionals, volunteers, and community members to ensure that every act of kindness is rooted in safeguarding, transparency, and ethical care. Leslie was more than family—he was a presence. The kind of person whose quiet strength could fill a room, whose kindness never asked for attention, and whose heart had space for everyone. He had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued—whether they were lifelong friends or strangers passing through a difficult moment. Leslie believed in the power of dignity, and he offered it freely: through a warm meal shared without judgment, a listening ear that never rushed, or a simple act of kindness that reminded someone they mattered. He didn’t need grand gestures to make an impact. His generosity was woven into everyday life—gentle, consistent, and deeply human. And when life tested him with the unimaginable, Leslie met it with grace. His battle with cancer revealed not just his courage, but the depth of his compassion. Even in pain, he thought of others. Even in uncertainty, he offered comfort. His love didn’t waver—it grew stronger, more intentional, more radiant. When we lost Leslie, the grief was profound. But so was the love he left behind. Leslie wasn’t just my husband—he was my soul mate, my safe place, my encourager, and the kindest soul I’ve ever known. He had a quiet way of noticing who needed help and offering it without fuss or fanfare. No spotlight, no need for recognition—just pure, heartfelt generosity. I still remember him slipping extra gloves into his coat pocket, just in case he met someone cold and struggling. That was Leslie: thoughtful, gentle, and full of heart. He believed in dignity for everyone, and he lived that belief every single day. When Leslie passed away in April 2016, the loss was immeasurable. But so was the love he left behind. I made a promise—to keep his spirit alive through kindness. That promise became Leslie’s Care Packages, a way to carry forward the compassion he gave so freely.
